Windy City Women hosted their 8th Annual Charity Event supporting the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. Thanks to your generosity, we raised $25,000 that will go towards
funding research, providing resources and aid to those affected by suicide.

Windy City Women (WCW) hosted another successful charity event.  On September 18, 2019, the Heating and Air Conditioning industry gathered at Joe’s On Weed Street in Chicago to help save lives and bring hope to those affected by their struggle of suicide.  An amazing $25,000 was raised for our charity, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). AFSP raises awareness, funds scientific research and provides resources and aid to those affected by suicide. Our beautiful world can be so cruel at times and because of it, people choose to take their lives. Children are bullied. Our soldiers suffer from PTSD.  And just our daily routine can become so overwhelming. Our girls worked hard to raise money for AFSP to continue their mission.

There was a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and different sponsorship levels to get us to that $25,000 that was raised. A special thank you to our generous supporters who helped get us to that level. WCW showed their support by wearing “blinged” WCW t-shirts with crystals in the color of the AFSP logo. We were grateful to have Sean Connolly, a member of AFSP and someone who lost a loved one to suicide, share his personal story with our guests.

The excitement of the event was brought about by Sidney Friedman, a mentalist and showman! We all felt like we were at a Las Vegas show.  Lights, camera, action! As the music played, Sidney ran onto the stage and in minutes the crowd was mesmerized. He interacted pulled guests on stage and literally read their minds. Not only was he a mind reader, he was a musician. He was able to guess songs that individuals wrote on a piece of paper. He didn’t say the songs name; he literally played it on the piano and knew all of the words. Jaws dropped and eyes were wide open. Sidney was kind enough to donate one of his private sessions to our silent auction.

WCW asks all of you to be aware of those around you. Look for signs of struggling or depression. Love that person next to you. Be kind. Smile. Exude positive energy.  It just may save a life.
